Transition News

Transition News -

Dear Team Members

As everyone is aware of by now NDMS is transitioning from FEMA to Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) on January 1, 2007. With change there is anxiety, concerns, questions and anticipatory stress.

The Command Staff is well aware of the concerns members have on how this will affect our team and the Command Staff commitment is to make this as painless as possible. However, please understand there are some things out of our control and we ask your patience and understanding during this time. From what I am learning at headquarters they Are trying extremely hard to make this a smooth transition, but moving an organization Of 9,000 people will have bumps to climb over.

In saying that we have added this page to keep you informed of any changes as we become aware of them. Also, to keep you informed of anything you may need to do as members of FloridaOne DMAT. There will be requests made of you that you may not agree with and I ask that you notify me by mail of those items so we can discuss and work with them. There are requests that will have deadlines and it is important that these deadlines are met in order to be a team ready to go out the door and do what we do best...TREAT THE PATIENTS!

Our mission to be the best does not change, our goals remain the same, it’s just the Department we report to that changes. Thank you all for your patience, understanding and dedication to this process.

Individual Travel Cards - Updated 4-13-07

If you have not applied for an Individual Credit Card application prior to April 10, 2007 NDMS Headquaters is stating you are non-deployable at this time.  In order to be able to deploy you must apply for the IBA and we are requesting that you do as soon as possible.  It is a requirement for employment with Department of Health and Human Services which we transitioned to on January 1, 2007.  Click here for the instructions, application and credit card agreement.  Once you have completed the application complete the fax cover sheet.  Although it says to fax it to Elizabeth Reyes we are asking that you FAX IT TO THE FLORIDA ONE OFFICE at 850-315-0289  We will see that it gets faxed to headquarters.

We understand there are some members who do not wish to acquire a card, unfortunately there is no waiver for this requirement. .  Use of your private credit card is not permitted.

This is an agreement between you and US Bank who is issuing the travel cards.  If you are applying for credit for personal reasons (i.e buying a home, car etc) please explain to your financial institution that this is a requirement of your employment.

All team members should embark upon the GSA SmartPay web based training for cardholders of the governmennt travel card. This course provides general information on traveling for the government and reviews how to use a governnment travel card and become familiar with the federal travel regulations (FTR). This course can be completed in less than 45 minutes and is available at:  http://fss.gsa.gov/webtraining/trainingdocs/traveltraining/index.cfm
